Introduction:

In the past, when a dead Nokia BB5 SL3 Phone comes to your shop, it was only
possible for you to backup the IMEI via a Backup RPL Function. There was no
way for you to backup a possibly 100% working SIMLOCK inside the phone because

give you Local/Test Mode at all, so you cannot backup the Simlocks even if you
wanted to.

Now here comes the Solution... The ATF Simlock Recovery Module v1.0 will allow
you to BACKUP SIMLOCKS from a DEAD PHONE! Just a 1-click solution for Recovery
Level 1 and Level 2 for NON-CORRUPTED SIMLOCKS on a DEAD PHONE.

Even if your phone SIMLOCKS are CORRUPTED, The ATF Network can still attempt to
perform a Level 3 Recovery from it, but it will cost you some ATF SL3 Credits.

Telecommunication companies generate a tremendous amount of data. These
data include call detail data, which describes the calls that traverse the
telecommunication networks, network data, which describes the state of the
hardware and software components in the network, and customer data, which
describes the telecommunication customers. This chapter describes how data
mining can be used to uncover useful information buried within these data
sets. Several data mining applications are described and together they
demonstrate that data mining can be used to identify telecommunication fraud,
improve marketing effectiveness, and identify network faults.

INTRODUCTION

The telecommunications industry generates and stores a tremendous amount of data. These data include call detail data, which describes the calls that traverse the telecommunication networks, network data, which describes the state of the hardware and software components in the network, and customer data, which describes the telecommunication customers. The amount of data is so great that manual analysis of the data is difficult, if not impossible. The need to handle such large volumes of data led to the development of knowledge-based expert systems. These automated systems
performed important functions such as identifying fraudulent phone calls and identifying network faults. The problem with this approach is that it is time- consuming to obtain the knowledge from human experts (the “knowledge acquisition bottleneck”) and, in many cases, the experts do not have the requisite knowledge. The advent of data mining technology promised
solutions to these problems and for this reason the telecommunications industry was an early adopter of data mining technology. Telecommunication data pose several interesting issues for data mining.The first concerns scale, since telecommunication databases may contain billions of records and are amongst the largest in the world. A second issue is that the raw data is often not suitable for data mining. For example, both call detail and network data are time-series data that represent individual
events. Before this data can be effectively mined, useful “summary” features
must be identified and then the data must be summarized using these features. Because many data mining applications in the telecommunications industry involve predicting very rare events, such as the failure of a network element or an instance of telephone fraud, rarity is another issue that must be dealt with. The fourth and final data mining issue concerns real-time performance: many data mining applications, such as fraud detection, require that any learned model/rules be applied in real-time. Each of these four issues are discussed throughout this chapter, within the context of real data
mining applications.

Abstract

The relevance of perception of smell and the corresponding olfactory communication changed, and attitudes of cultures towards olfaction differed through the ages. Finally enlightened philosophers declared odour and the sense of smell as immeasurable, unimportant and therefore unusable for scientific purpose. But, ironically, in the last few years more and more artistic multimedia installations used odours, scented products were sold and the increasing application of aroma therapy indicate a changed attitude towards social odours. Emotionalizing scents are largely used for influencing customers’ behaviour in sales rooms and scientists are currently investigating the mystery of smell. The technological progress meanwhile allows for measuring and reproducing odours. Therefore odours are also becoming interesting for technical information transfer or communication, especially in Human-Computer Interaction. Smell seems to be an unrecognised medium and a new channel in multi-media. This paper presents various dimensions about olfaction and focuses on ongoing research and future challenges in digitizing smell and its transmission over internet.

What Is Smell?

1 Olfaction, the sense of smell, is the ability to use the nose to notice or discover the presence of an odorous substance in the air, that is, an odorant - a chemical compound that has a smell or odour. It is estimated that humans can detect 10,000 to 100,000 different odorants. We also have the capability to distinguish between slight variations in the chemical structure of some odorants, as well as being able to detect the presence of infinitesimally small amounts of certain odorants, e.g. dilutions of less than one part in several billion parts of air. Thus, while our sense of smell may not be as acute as that of other mammals, e.g. sheep dogs, bloodhounds, it is still quite sensitive and remarkably acute (Ward, P., Davies, B. & Kooijman, D. 2007; Well&Good 2004). Till 1991, it was not understood how the recognition and perception of the 10,000 or so odours that mammals can detect actually worked and then Linda B. Buck and Richard Axel discovered the existence of a gene family in mammals which encodes olfactory receptor types and were awarded the Nobel Prize for their discovery (Gardiner, M.B. Fall 2004; Nobelprize.org, 2004). They discovered the presence of about 600 of these odorant receptor genes, with about a half of them being non-functional pseudo genes, thus leaving humans with approximately 350 olfactory receptor types. Discovering the presence of the odorant receptor genes and the role they play in odour recognition and perception of smells was the first clue in a puzzle that researchers had been trying to solve for a long while.

Following this discovery, Buck and the rest of her research team then became preoccupied with solving the next part of the puzzle. They focused on finding out how it was possible for humans to have the ability to detect at least 10,000 different odorants with only 350 functional odorant receptor genes, and likewise for other mammals. Their research further revealed that the receptor types present in the olfactory receptor genes are used in a combinatorial manner to encode odour identities. That is, a single receptor is able to recognise multiple odorants, and a single odorant is recognised by multiple receptors, but that different odorants are recognised by different combinations of olfactory receptors. In this way, mappings of different combinations of odorant receptors create a vast array of different odour perceptions in mammals (Saltus, R., 2007; HHMI News, 2001).

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present the complete modeling and simulation of wind turbine driven doubly-fed induction generator which feeds ac power to the utility grid. For that, two pulse width modulated voltage source converters are connected back to back between the rotor terminals and utility grid via common dc link. The grid side converter controls the power flow between the DC bus and the AC side and allows the system to be operated in sub-synchronous and super synchronous mode of operation. The proper rotor excitation is provided by the machine side converter. The complete system is modeled and simulated in the MATLAB Simulink environment in such a way that it can be suited for modeling of all types of induction generator configurations. The model makes use of rotor reference frame using dynamic vector approach for machine model.

INTRODUCTION

The conventional energy sources are limited and have pollution to the environment. So more attention and interest have been paid to the utilization of renewable energy sources such as wind energy, fuel cell and solar energy etc. Wind energy is the fastest growing and most promising renewable energy source among them due to economically viable [1-8]. In India, the total installed capacity of wind power generation is 8754 MW in the year 2008.By the end of 2012, the total installed capacity is going to be reached to 12000 MW according to ministry of new and renewable energy, India and total installed capacity of wind energy is estimated to be more than 160 GW [WWEA] all around the world. There were several attempts to build large scale wind powered system to generate electrical energy. The first production of electrical energy with wind power was done in 1887 by Charles brush in Cleveland, Ohio.DC generator was used for power production and was designed to charge the batteries. The induction machine was used at the first time in 1951.

Many applications of wind power can be found in a wide power range from a few kilowatts to several megawatts in small scale off-grid standalone systems or large scale grid-connected wind farms. Recently Enercon constructed a wind turbine of 4.5 MW with rotor diameter of 112.8 meters. Due to lack of control on active and reactive power, this type of dispersed power generation causes problems in the electrical connected system. So this requires accurate modeling, control and selection of appropriate wind energy conversion system.During last two decades, the high penetration of wind turbines in the power system has been closely related to the advancement of the wind turbine technology and the way of how to control. Doubly-fed induction machines are receiving increasing attention for wind energy conversion system during such situation. because the main advantage of such machines is that, if the rotor current is governed applying field orientation control-carried out using commercial double sided PWM inverters, decoupled control of stator side active and reactive power results and the power processed by the power converter is only a small fraction of the total system power.

So doubly-fed induction machine with vector control is very attractive to the high performance variable speed drive and generating applications [1-4]. With increasing penetration of wind-derived power in interconnected power systems, it has become necessary to model the complete wind energy systems in order to study their impact and also to study wind power plant control. In this paper, an attempt to develop a dynamic model of induction machine which can be simulated as both motoring and generating mode when testing control strategies. Through the model developed in this paper can be used for simulating all types of induction generator configurations. The choice of synchronous rotating reference frame makes it particularly favorable for the simulation of doubly-fed configuration in transient conditions. The induction machine is modeled in vectorized form in the synchronous reference frame. The speed is adjusted by the turbine pitch control to maximize the power generated at a given wind speed. A complete simulation model is developed for such machine under variable speed operation using MATLAB Simulink environment. Section I describes the modeling of wind turbine for different wind velocities. Section II describes the vectorized dynamic modeling of DFIG.Section III describes the modeling of PWM rectifier which feeds power to the utility grid via PWM inverter from the rotor. Section IV describes the modeling of two levels PWM voltage source inverter which synchronized with the grid. Final chapter involves the general results and
discussion followed by conclusion.
